Virtual Machine (VM) traffic usage refers to the amount of network data transmitted to and from a virtual machine over a certain period. This includes incoming and outgoing data packets that pass through the network interfaces associated with the VM.
Key aspects of VM traffic usage include:
- Inbound Traffic: This refers to data received by the VM from external sources. Inbound traffic is always free on Doprax.
- Outbound Traffic: This refers to data sent from the VM to external destinations. The limit for outbound traffic applies to all Doprax providers. This means that only the data that leaves the server is metered and charged.
The traffic usage for your Virtual Machine depends on your chosen infrastructure or provider. We have 3 providers currently for creating Virtual Machines and they are: Digital Ocean, Hetzner, and OVH.
DigitalOcean
DigitalOcean is a cloud-service provider that provides developers, startups, and SMBs with cloud infrastructure-as-a-service platforms.
There are four plans on DigitalOcean infrastructure in Doprax. Each plan has its own traffic usage ranging from 500 GB /month to 4000 GB/month.
- The first plan which is type “DO1” has a traffic usage of 500 GB per month.
- The second one, type “DO1” has a traffic usage of 1000 GB per month.
- The third plane which is type “DO1” has a traffic usage of 2000 GB per month.
- And finally, the fourth plan is type “DO1” and it has a traffic usage of 4000 GB per month.
Each extra TB of traffic is charged at 20 $/month. (10 times the Hetzer extra cost). For Digititalocean, the traffic is for an entire month, so surges in the traffic usage could result in extra traffic cost.
Hetzner
Hetzner is a data-center operator that provides dedicated hosting, shared web hosting, managed servers, domain names, storage boxes, cloud, and other services.
There are three Hetzner plans on Doprax; H1, H2, and H3. There is a 20000 GB monthly traffic included in each of the plans. Each extra TB of traffic is charged at 2 $/month.
OVH
OVH is a cloud computing company which offers VPS, dedicated servers and other web services.
OVH provider on Doprax contains three plans (OVH1, OVH2, and OVH3). The traffic usage for these 3 plans are unlimited. They are all free.
