Change IP of Virtual Machines

In Doprax, changing the IP address of your Hetzner VM is a seamless process handled automatically by the platform.

Last updated: May 14, 2025

In the VM panel under the Network section, each IP address (IPv4 and IPv6) has a green Change button beside it. When this button is clicked, a confirmation prompt ensures the user truly intends to change the IP address.

Upon confirmation, the platform automatically shuts down the VM, unassigns the current IP address, assigns a new one, and restarts the VM with the updated IP.

Additionally, Doprax updates any associated automatic subdomains to point to the new IP address, ensuring that your services continue to be accessible without further manual adjustments.

Automatic Subdomains

Any automatic subdomains assigned to your virtual machine will automatically be updated to point to the newly assigned IP address. This is done automatically, and you don’t need to do anything.

Custom domains

For your custom domain, when you change your IP, you need to also change the 'A' records of your custom domain and make sure to update them to the new IP that has been assigned to your virtual machine.

IPv6 configuration after change

When you change IPv6, you need to also make a small change in the configuration of your virtual machine.
